During my last year at NCUA I made two personal decisions:
· After 33 plus years, it was time to retire from federal service, and
· I loved credit unions too much to just walk away into retirement.
When my dad retired from Northwestern Bell in the 1980s (also with 33 years of service) he turned down many opportunities to consult. Eventually the calls stopped coming -- since he always said no. He later told me he always wondered if he should have pursued these opportunities.
NO REGRETS
I never forgot this discussion with my dad, about what if, and used it as fuel to lay the groundwork to form my LLC. Upon retiring in June and announcing it on Linkedin, I started taking on clients. I must say, I am truly enjoying life as a consultant assisting credit unions in a whole new way and using my knowledge to enhance their regulatory relations.
Today I am proud to announce the launching our website: marktreichel.com
Among other things, the website lays out the services we offer. Please reach out if you have any questions on how I might assist you and your credit union.
QUOTE OF THE DAY
Over my 33 years I gathered a long list of motivational quotations, many of which became part of my leadership approach, or mantra if you will. I had a captured audience at NCUA (and at home) who I could share them with. With my kids grown and NCUA in the rearview mirror, I will now share my love of quotes via my website blog and on linkedin.
Since I am announcing my “unretirement” with this post, I am reminded of this fabulous quote from Margaret Thatcher:
“Look at a day when you are supremely satisfied at the end. It is not a day when you lounge around doing nothing; it is when you've had everything to do, and you've done it.”
