Like A Bat Out of Hell

The Music world lost a wonderful singer and showman Meat Loaf this week.

I love live music and regret I never took action to go see Meat Loaf.

His music (and his writer Jim Steinman) make up part of the fabric of my youth.

In 2017 I debated going to see Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers in Baltimore Maryland on Sunday night July 23rd. In order to do it right - I would have needed to get a hotel room in Baltimore and drive the short 45 miles back to Washington DC the next day.

Due to a meeting that Monday morning that seemed of great importance at the time, I decided NOT to go see Tom Petty.

That turned out to be my last chance and his last tour, as he passed away less than two months from that date. Since 2017 one of my mantras became “Buy the Dang Concert Tickets”.

Just last month my wife and I made sure we went to see Genesis on their Last Domino Tour – seeing the last two shows in the United States in Boston.

It was magical and inspiring.

I have expanded this mantra into other areas of my life – but the concept is the same.

This philosophy has been integral to me beginning a second career in consulting which is allowing me to serve credit unions in ways I had never imagined.

Like a bat out of hell I'll be gone when the morning comes” Meat Loaf and Jim Steinman

RIP Meat Loaf, Jim Steinman & Tom Petty
