The NCUA Board announced last week that Deputy Executive Director Mark Treichel has been selected to replace Region I Director Layne Bumbgardner who retired on April 3. As Region I Director, based in Albany, NY, Treichel will be responsible for managing the agency's supervision and examination program for the states of Connecticutt, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York , Rhode Island, and Vermont. Treichel has 12 years of management experience with NCUA. He has worked in three different regions and held two positions in the central office in his more than 16 years with the agency. He was named deputy executive director in the central office in April 2000. Treichel holds an accounting degree from the University of Minnesota.
